Train number: 4124/1423 is a service that operates between Kooragang Island and Clyde yard. This service starts over at Kooragang Island collecting cement hoppers from Boral Cement & grain hoppers from Cargill, then arriving into Mornadoo (Port Waratah) 10-11 am and awaits for train 6422/4621 which originates in Grafton, NSW. Once this service arrives the wagons typically being sugar hoppers from Grafton and cement hoppers from Wauchope, get attached onto 4124 for the eventual destination of Clyde in Sydney which departs at 3-6pm.
Train 4124/1423 can have odd consists varying from a second locomotive, to having 5 locomotives and 2 wagons in tow. This train is used to transfer motive power that may be required elsewhere. This train also isn’t limited to grain, sugar or Cement either. Steel wagons, coal hoppers & container flatbeds have also been seen on this service
The locomotives, typically 81 or 82 class are usual motive power but on the rare occasion 48, DL, NR, 80, G, TT & BL class locomotives have been used recently or in the past. With the 48 typically being attached after being swapped from Grafton with another 48 class.
