Auburn station is comprised of 3 platforms made up of 1 island and 1 side, with ramps to access both platforms that can be accessed via Victoria Road and Lilydale Grove.
When the station opened in April 1882 it was called "Auburn Road", it got it's current name in September 1882 as "Auburn". The station building dates back to 1916 and was built when the line between Hawthorn and Camberwell was regraded. The station building is on the Victorian Heritage Register.
